What is Strep Throat?

Strep throat is inflammation caused by the bacteria; the bacteria causes pain and irritation in the throat. The bacteria is known as Streptococcus bacteria. Strep throat is commonly found in children and adults, affecting all individuals regardless of age.

The most common occurrence of strep throat is in individuals who are aged between 5 and 15 years. It is highly contagious and can be spread from one affected person to another.

What Causes Strep Throat?

It is caused by a group of bacteria known as Streptococcus pathogens. It can be spread through droplets of coughs and sneezes, and airborne particles. Sometimes, just sharing the meal and drinking with the affected individual can infect you with strep throat.

The bacteria could also linger on surfaces like doorknobs, railings, and flat surfaces and easily be transferred to whoever comes in contact with such surfaces. If the person then touches their nose, mouth, or eyes, he becomes infected by this condition.
